Itinerary
After a morning pickup from your accommodation in central Marrakech, head deep into the High Atlas Mountains in your air-conditioned minivan to begin your tour. Travel along the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass and through Berber villages, where local shepherds graze their flocks much as they did thousands of years ago. To begin, you'll visit the Aït Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where locals and business travelers have met to meet and trade over the centuries. Soak up the atmosphere at your leisure before heading to Ouarzazate with your guide for lunch at a local cafe (own expense). In the afternoon, your guide will take you to the Skoura Oasis. Stop for a moment to marvel at the lush green palm trees that rise like a mirage from the arid desert; then continue along the Dades River into deep gorges, where the ruins of ancient kasbahs lie among traditional Berber villages. You will arrive in Tinghir in the evening, where your dinner and accommodation await. Overnight: Bougafer Hotel Tinghir
After breakfast at the hotel, hop back in your minibus and drive along the famous "Road of 1,000 Kasbahs" to the nearby town of Tinghir. Hike through the oasis to the majestic Touda Gorge, where a deep crevice in orange limestone offers a spectacular view, then settle down for lunch on your own (own expense) at one of the local cafes. In the afternoon. Continue to Merzouga, a small village on the edge of the Sahara Desert. Meet your camel caravan and, as the sun slowly moves across the afternoon sky, set off towards Erg Chebbi, where your desert camp awaits. With traditional nomadic music playing to entertain you, you'll enjoy dinner and an evening under the stars before retiring to bed. Accommodation: Desert camp in the Sahara.
Following a morning walk before breakfast to enjoy the sunrise among the sand dunes (optional), mount your camel to return to Merzouga and meet your driver who will be waiting for you to continue the journey back to Marrakech. Stop for lunch in Ouarzazate (own expense), then continue your journey surrounded by the spectacular scenery of the High Atlas Mountains. You will return to your accommodation in Marrakech in the mid-evening to conclude your tour.
